KIM LORCH PERRINs

Executive Administrator

Kim Lorch Perrins is the Executive Administrator for the AYWS. She is also an active freelance oboist and educator, serving as the oboe instructor at The Westminster Schools and adjunct faculty at Agnes Scott College and Spelman College. She maintains an active private teaching studio and is a member of the John’s Creek Symphony Orchestra. She holds a Master of Music (Oboe Performance) from Boston University, a Master of Public Administration (Nonprofit Management) from Georgia State University, and a Bachelor of Science (Music and Biology) from Emory University.

PRESTON WILHITE

Manager

Preston Wilhite is a senior music education major at Georgia State University. He is a graduate of Brookwood High School and is an alumnus of the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and Atlanta Trumpet Ensemble. He is student teaching at Milton High School and will continue at Riverwatch Middle School in the spring of 2024.

KAY FAIRCHILD

Brass Coordinator

Kay Fairchild, one of Atlanta’s leading brass clinicians, is now in her nineteenth season as the
co-director of the Atlanta Trumpet Ensemble (ATE). She maintains an active private studio in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Approximately 60% of her students are placed in All-State Band and Orchestra each year. Her students have been accepted to prestigious universities such as the Juilliard School, the Curtis Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Indiana University, the Cleveland Institute, Florida State University and the University of Georgia.

Fairchild teaches trumpet and brass at Milton High School and also serves as the brass coordinator at Lakeside High School. She has served as the Brass Coordinator and Instructor for the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony, Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra, Westminster Summer Band, and the Pope High School Band. Fairchild has served as Artist Affiliate at Emory University.

Fairchild has performed concerts around the world, including the United States, mainland China, and Japan. She has performed with Doc Severinsen, Timofei Dokschitzer and The Indigo Girls. She is a founding member of the Ivy Street Brass and served as staff trumpeter for First Baptist Church of Decatur, Georgia for fourteen years. Fairchild is an ACSM Certifed Personal Trainer and works as a Wellness Coach and Group Exercise Instructor with the Metro YMCA.


BRYAN WYSOCKI

Percussion Coordinator

Bryan Wysocki is, in no particular order, a freelance percussionist, composer, educator, and conductor in the metro Atlanta area. He is passionate about the creation and performance of new concert music. His original music is both inventive and expressive, often evoking a playful nostalgia. He is a percussionist well-versed in many styles ranging from the cutting-edge of contemporary composition to the standard orchestral repertoire. He is currently the Director of Percussion at Duluth HS, Instructor of Percussion at the Westminster Schools, and the Percussion Coordinator for the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony (AYWS). Originally from Maryland, Bryan, and his music, has performed throughout the United States, and occasionally in Europe. He has degrees from Hofstra University (BS, Composition) and Georgia State University (MMus, Composition & MMus, Percussion), and in the process of finishing his doctorate at the University of Georgia (DMA, Composition). MARK YANCICh

Percussion Faculty

Mark Yancich, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Principal Timpanist since 1981, is active as publisher, clinician, and teacher at Emory University.  He has served on the faculty of the Aspen Music Festival and is featured on numerous performance and educational videos.

Yancich has appeared as guest timpanist with the Chicago, Pittsburgh, Detroit, and Minnesota Symphonies, as well as soloist with various other orchestras most recently performing and recording James Oliverio’s “DYNASTY Double Timpani Concerto” with brother Paul in Atlanta.  His teachers include Cloyd Duff, Richard Wiener, Saul Goodman, Ruth Cahn, Bill Cahn and Vinnie Ruggiero.  Previous to joining the ASO, Mark was Principal Percussion and Timpanist of orchestras in Caracas and Maracaibo, Venezuela and also taught percussion in El Sistema.
